Investors digested benign inflation data from the Eurozone, which prompted them to push back bets on ECB rate hikes by year-end, while continuing to monitor geopolitical developments, including President Trump’s controversial Greenland comments. Heildelberg Materials, E.ON and MTU Aero Engines led the pack, rising 2.7%, 2% and 2%, respectively. Siemens climbed 1.9% following its announcement of a deal with chipmaker Nvidia, while Bayer rose 1.1% after revealing it had filed lawsuits against Covid-19 vaccine makers Pfizer, BioNTech, and Moderna, alleging they used its mRNA technology in their vaccines. Defense names Hensoldt (1.4%), Rheinmetall (1.3%), and Renk (0.7%) were also in demand.
